10. Enhancement of KELY’s Helpline and the Establishment of an Activity Hub

10.1 Establishment of an Activity Hub
Description
There are about 7,300 runaway youths per year on average. They often end up in parks, local arcades, shopping centers, crashing at a friend’s apartment or spending their nights in bars and clubs.

Many times, youths who are facing compounded issues and alienation do not see a way out and try to hold on to what little support or validation they can receive through endeavoring in harmful behaviors or associating with negative peer influence.

KELY’s Activity Hub is a “safe space” where young people can be in positive contact with other young people to receive mentorship and support in addressing their issues.

10.2 Youth Helpline Service
Description
The Youth Helpline Service aims to provide a peer-led, non-judgmental support service for youth to help them face drug abuse and suicide issues, as well as to assist them in seeking appropriate support. Operated by KELY staff and volunteers, the helpline operates between 10am-5pm from Monday to Friday to provide emotional support to youth who are facing challenges on their journey to adulthood.
