"One smile can change a day, one hug can change a week, one word can change a life...which word is it going to be?"

International Youth Day 2014 - Your Support Changes Lives

13-08-2014

Did you know that 470 million people of the world's youth population have a mental health condition?

In Hong Kong, more than 1 in 3 people suffer from a mental illness. Each day, stigma towards mental health hinders young people from seeking appropriate support. Being labelled as crazydifferent, and being told that what they experience is not real, mental health stigma has caused many youth to become socially disengaged, emotionally burdened, and afraid to speak about their problems. Rather than seeking help, many have also become dependent on drug and alcohol for relief.

In commemoration of United Nation's International Youth Day (Aug 12), KELY Support Group (KELY) held an Instagram campaign to join global effort in ending stigma against mental health. Starting from Hong Kong, we wish to use this campaign to raise awareness in youth mental health, and extend our message of support to vulnerable youth in need.

Your Support Changes Lives. Please help us share this message. Help us extend our support to the future leaders of tomorrow.
